AngloGold Ashanti is an independent global gold mining company with a diverse, high-quality portfolio of operations, projects and explorations activities. AngloGold Ashanti is into the production of gold, which is their main product, silver, uranium oxide and sulphuric acid, as by-products.

AngloGold limited was founded in June 1998 with the consolidation of the gold mining interests of Anglo American. AngloGold Ashanti was formed by merger between AngloGold Limited (AngloGold) and the Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited (Ashanti) in April, 2004. Although the merger was announced in 2003. It was only approved by the Ghanaian judiciary a year later.

AngloGold Ashanti, headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, is a global gold company with portfolio of long-life, relatively low-cost assets and differing orebody types in key gold producing regions. The company’s operations are located in four continents across 10 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Columbia and Tanzania).

AngloGold Ashanti was listed on Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on 27th April, 2004 after it has successfully completed its Initial Public Offering. December 2019, AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine won the Best Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Project of the Year Award at the 5th Ghana Mining Industry Awards (GMIA).

Today, AngloGold Ashanti is the third-largest gold mining company in the world.
